USFS decision seemingly green-lights worrisome development fought by WWA and partners since it was first proposed in 2020.

On Friday, May 29, the US Forest Service (USFS) released the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and Draft Record of Decision (ROD) for Grand Targhee Resort’s proposed expansion in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, seemingly green-lighting worrisome development that WWA and other community partners have fought since the the expansion was first proposed in 2020.

This USFS release has initiated a forty-five day objection period for the project and the five project‑specific amendments that it would require, along with a separate sixty day objection period for the programmatic amendment that it would require. While these objection periods are only open to individuals and groups that submitted comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) in May of 2025, WWA is working diligently to review the project components and amendments to compile a list of action steps to help concerned community members engage.

More updates will follow on this evolving story. You can read the USFS Press Release here.
