Lovell, Lovell, WY 82431, USA

About the event

Where: Between Lovell and Sheridan, WY in the Big Horn National Forest

Difficulty: Strenous, plan to hike 8 miles round trip

Details: The hike begins on the Bucking Mule Falls National Recreation Trail and travels to the Bucking Mule Falls overlook. From the overlook, Jack will lead hikers on outfitter trails and recovering administrative roads that traverse along the canyon's rim and back into Bucking Mule Basin. Much of the hike will be through wildlife-rich lands, rewilded after almost four decades of road closures.

Directions: From Sheridan drive I-90 and U.S. 14 to Burgess Junction. At the junction go west on U.S. 14A toward Bald Mountain. Between Mile Markers 80 and 81, turn north onto FS 14, the Devil's Canyon Road (approximately 68 miles from Sheridan and 34 miles from Lovell). Drive this all-weather gravel road approximately 10 miles to the Bucking Mule Trailhead. The hike will begin and end at this location.
