Virtual Training:
Solitude Monitoring
"Opportunities for solitude" is one of the four defining wilderness characteristics identified in the 1964 Wilderness Act. The Solitude Monitoring Program is a partnership between WWA, federal agencies, and community members that trains local volunteers to collect data adhering to Forest Service protocol that is essential for assessing visitor trends and guiding management.
This one-hour virtual session co-hosted by WWA, Great Old Broads for Wilderness and our agency partners will train participants to become Solitude Monitors for the 2026 season.
