BREAKING: SJ9 Signed by Governor Gordon

A sweeping Wyoming public lands landscape.

The "Keeping public lands protected" resolution is a poignant win for Wyoming's wildlands.

Friday, March 6, 2026: Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon has signed SJ9, “Keeping public lands protected and decisions local.” The resolution, which passed by overwhelming margins in both the Senate and the House, states clearly that “the Wyoming Legislature opposes any state or federal legislation or policy that promotes the broad or indiscriminate sale or exchange of public lands.”

SJ9 is proof that Wyomingites want to see public lands kept in public hands, and this outcome is especially notable as it comes just one year after a resolution to transfer all federal land in the state (except Yellowstone National Park) to the state was defeated by a single vote. SJ9 stands as a stunning rebuke to that effort, and a testament to how powerful we can be when we rally together for the sake of our public lands.

WWA is grateful to everyone, from our members to other dedicated organizations, for the testimony and time spent calling and writing our elected officials to vote in favor of this resolution. Eighty-one lawmakers listened to this upwelling of support and also deserve gratitude:

Sens. Anderson, Barlow, Boner, Brennan, Case, Cooper, Crago, Dockstader, Crum, Driskill, Gierau, Hicks, Hutchings, Jones, Landen, Kolb, Nethercott, Love, Olsen, Pappas, Pearson, Salazar, Rothfuss, Schuler, Scott, Steinmetz, and Biteman; and
