Wyoming WWA THANKS |
► Hiker to Rock Creek - Bighorn National Forest - "I just want to thank you both for giving those of us who love wilderness a chance to actually experience it. I've been mostly an armchair wilderness traveler and the hike today exceeded my expectations. There was such great beauty at every turn. I've attached my two favorite photos of the hike. The second one is very Impressionistic, pointilism in nature!" Claudia
► WAYS TO SUPPORT WWA – BRIDGER-TETON NATIONAL FOREST Lands with Wilderness Potential - This summer, staff, interns and volunteers in the WWA Jackson Office spent many hours collecting data and photographing the roadless areas of the BTNF to document their wilderness potential. By the end of the fall, we will have surveyed the forest, and we’ll be ready to launch a campaign for NEW wilderness designation. ONE – We still need more on-the-ground help, so you can volunteer to collect survey data – call the WWA office (307-733-2920) or Forrest McCarthy (307-690-6833) to receive a survey assignment and training in the GPS protocol for collecting the information. All the information is being captured on a Google map which can be viewed on the WWA website. Bridger-Teton Summer Wilderness Survey Volunteers TWO - Go to Blog Site. On the Blog site you can add comments, photographs and experiences from BTNF areas that you want to see protected as wilderness. Make sure to leave your name and address so we can add your comments to those that will be sent to the forest service this winter. The more personal, descriptive and persuasive comments are - the higher their impact. THREE - Join our email list (send your email to nancy@wildwyo.org) and you will be included in future alerts and event announcements. We’re building a campaign for new wilderness designation in the BTNF – JOIN US! ► Vast Majority of Americans Believe Protecting Wilderness is Important ► Lander Resource Management Plan Revision Comments ► Adobe Town final Very Rare or Uncommon designation issued (PDF)
