It's that time of year folks!
WWA 2008 Outings

These outings are free and open to the public due to the generous support and vision of our members and the Earth Friends Wildlife Foundation, The Holler Fund, Norcross Wildlife Foundation, Patagonia, Inc., Wolf Creek Foundation, Old Bill’s Fun Run, and the Wiancko Family Charitable Foundation.

Get Wild! on our 2008 Outings into unique places throughout Wyoming this summer.

Wyoming Wilderness Association is pleased to offer these opportunities to enjoy spectacular areas while learning about our wild public lands.

Get Out, Get Wild, Get Going!

Wyoming’s Wildlands are adventures waiting to happen!

Upon Registration, you will receive pertinent information on rendezvous sites, trip leader contacts and trip recommendations on gear, food and water.

Painting, photography and writing tours require participants to bring their own materials in a backpack to walk into the area of inspiration. These tours are only for those planning to participate in the activity.

WWA or trip leaders will not be responsible for accidents, injuries, lost participants, or bad paintings. Hikers should be in appropriate physical condition for the level of hike offered. Participants must sign a medical form and liability release. Sorry, no dogs—not that your dog isn’t the best behaved, but in group situations, not all are dog lovers. Thanks!

Many of our outings will tour wildland areas that need protection from development threats and/or could be proposed for wilderness designation, giving the participants a chance to gain first hand experience to make informed decisions about protecting wild places for the future. Also offered are creative outings with generous painters, writers and photographers.

11. Saturday, September 20 ▲▲ Bridger-Teton NF: Mt. Leidy Highlands Artist Outing—Joe Arnold, Artist and Tom Turiano, WWA Board Member. This painter workshop with Joe Arnold will hike into the Red Hills of the Gros Ventre landscape to paint the inspiring views. Joe Arnold specializes in the mountaineer's view in his paintings. His many high altitude mountain panoramas have earned him the reputation as the "plein-air artist of thin air." Last year Arnold’s work was featured in a  sole exhibition at the Jackson Hole Center For the Arts entitled, “The Mountaineer's View.” Tom Turiano, author of Select Peaks of Greater Yellowstone is a mountaineer extraordinaire.

12. Saturday, September 20 ▲▲ Bureau of Land Management:  Bighorn Basin-Honeycomb Buttes WSA Hike--Edith Heyward & Don Crecelius. Honeycomb Buttes mesmerizes its visitors with a kaleidoscope of pastel orange hills, tan rock mushrooms, and red-, white-, and purple-striped cliffs. Sagebrush and grasslands are interspersed through the array of unusual pinnacles, spires, and buttes, while greasewood and rabbitbrush grow along the winding canyon lands. In addition to dramatic scenery and unique geologic features, this area is known for fossil deposits of large Tertiary mammals and reptiles. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Outings Coordinator Christina at 307-672-2751.
